Pygmy marmosets are the smallest but most intriguing breed of monkeys. They are found in Brazil
What they look like
Pygmy marmosets have a fur coat to keep them warm. Their average size 2-5 inches long. That is the size of an adults index finger.They have sharp claws to help climb They have tiny but sharp teeth.
How they move
Pygmy marmosets walk on tiny,fast legs.They move quickly and quietly.They are mainly bipedal meaning they walk on two legs,but sometimes quadrupedal,which means they walk on all four legs.They can turn their head 180 degrees.
Communication and grouping
Pygmy marmosets communicate in 10 different languages.They live in small groups ranging from 2-9
Food
Pygmy marmosets eat sap from trees.They eat here because sap attracts butterflies. Then the Pygmy marmoset eats the butterfly.This means they are omnivores.
Predators
They have three animal predators like raptors which are bird like eagles and hawks,cat like animals and climbing snakes.Humans are their predators because we cut down their trees.
Habitat description
Pygmy marmosets live in Brazil in cold temperatures and in trees.They adapt with sharper claws, which helps them cling onto trees.
Pygmy marmosets are a fascinating primate that need to be protected from extinction , because they're so small and vulnerable. People need to help protect them rather than destroying their habitat to make money from farms.
