PE- Striking and Fielding

WALT: Apply Striking and Fielding activities in a range of sports and activities.
Link to modelling book on online zone.

My Strengths

The striking strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were... Keep your eye on the ball, wide base good stance and stand side on.

The throwing and catching strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were cup your hands/ reverse cup as early as possible, soft hands, keep your eye on the ball and watch the ball all the way into your hands.

My Next Steps

To improve my striking of a ball I need to play through the shot follow through because sometimes when I don't follow through I don't get maximum power.

To Improve my catching and fielding I need to point to where you want the ball to go because I sometimes try to rush the throw and it is slightly less accurate.

The game that I enjoyed the most was rounders because it was a tight game and I took three real good catches.

Leadership blog post can do Kauri run bike run: Must do #2

Today the Kauri team at Oaklands school went to Halswell domain to participate at the Kauri run bike run. Jake and I went down early in a car to get things set up. To start I put out some flags to show participants where their bikes needed to go. Then the other students arrived and we went for a walk around the track. During the events I helped out in the transition area meaning I helped the students switch from running to cycling and vice versa. Afterwards I helped pack up the gear. After we packed up Jake and I were taken to the BP to get a trumpet and coke as a thanks for helping.  The leadership I showed was helping out at School events, getting involved and supporting others during my role.

Maths Simple powers of numbers

17/3/16
WALT know simple powers of numbers to 10
Last week and Today I was doing some maths work on knowing simple powers of numbers to 10. To do this you get a number I'll use 5 to the third power. To work this out you multiply 5 by 3 this equals 125 because 5x= 25 and 25x5=125.
My next step is statistics
These screenshots  show that I got 100 smartscore at the two activities.

Keeping or Changing The Flag

16/3/16

WALT I can locate, evaluate, analyse and summarise information and ideas within texts and across a range of texts.

The solo level achieved was extended abstract because we completed the task with good reasons and arranged them into groups successfully.

Evidence on changing/keeping the flag

Today Savannah and I researched on the flag change and created a document with reasons why the flag should change and why it shouldn't change. First we read three opinions on whether the flag should change or not. Then we wrote down five reasons to why the flag should change or not. Then we had to highlight the category that they went in the choices were Expert opinion, Personal opinion, Statistics or common knowledge. Finally we did an overall statement at the bottom about whether it was strong, weak or uncertain reasoning.

My next reading goal is to understand the authors purpose and be able to give evidence on the structure and language used.

Leadership Training Week Three

WALT- Describe the traits of an effective leader.
Last week the senior students of Oaklands School got together and decided on the leadership traits that a good leader shows. First we got into a pair and listed some traits we thought would help to be a good leader. Next we got into small groups of three and sorted them out into groups that cover eachother. After this we got together as a class and decided on three main traits of an effective leader.
Trustworthy- People can trust you to do the right thing.
Integrity- You are fair, honest and have good morales.
Motivational-  You motivate people to do the right thing.
Goal focused- You activey work to achieve a set goal
Active thinker- You activele think about a solution
Resilient- The act of never giving up.
We are currently  at multistructual because we are able to desribe the traits of an effective leader.

Leadership in the garden: Garden Club #2

On the 3rd of March some of the year 8 students went into the sweet corn maze and pulled the corn out because it was ready and it would improve our collaboration skills. The first thing I did was pull out all the corn so it could be used. To do this we grabbed the corn and tore it out of the ground. the we peeled/ ripped the corn/ leaves off and put the corn into one bucket and the rest in the wheelbarrow to be taken to the trailer.

The next job I did was taking the wheelbarrow to the trailer and putting the weeds into the trailer. To make time pass while doing it we made one wheelbarrow Donald Trump and the other one was Hillary Clinton. The people weeding had to put the weeds into their choice of who should win the election. In the end Donald Trump won and I moved onto my next job.

My next job which was my final job was to stand on top of the trailer and squash it down so there could be more room. It was fun but slightly scary at the same time because it was uneven and every step was at a different level. Some steps would make your feet sink right in and others your foot wouldn't move.

Leadership meeting can do: Student Leadership #1

Today the student leaders had our weekly meeting to discuss important matters. The main thing we were focusing on today was integrity and how to show it. We watched a video that gave us tips on how to always show integrity the three main points were. Tell the truth, Finish well and Listen to your consience. Then we had a discussion about how we could do these things. Tell the truth was just simply be honest in all situations. Finish well means if you start something continue on with it until the finish. Listen to your consience means listen to your inner voice telling you to do the right thing. Today I showed getting involved because I put my ideas foward and I contributed to the discussion.

Leadership Gardening club merit can do: Garden Club #1

On Friday morning Victor, Madyx and I built some sign posts for the garden show next week by using two pieces of wood and a drill with some screws. Afterwards we Watered the black boxes and pulled some rotten leaves out. In the middle of this We were asked to help move some tables so we got Victor to go make sure it was okay as Madyx and I took the tables in and out of the staff room with help from Victor towards the end. After Morning Tea we joined Alex and Ye-joon. First Ye-joon and I filled the bucket by the compost bins with bark. Then all of us helped to prepare the beetroot for next week so it is ready to cook at the show. After we finished Victor and I threw the scraps into the chickens.  The leadership I showed was getting involved and helping others because I was helping complete jobs for next week and I was getting stuck in and doing them.
